Numerous awards have acknowledged U of T's contributions to city building and the creation of great spaces for living and learning. The jury for the 2003 /04 City of Toronto Architecture and Urban Design Awards noted that the university is "recognized in Canada for its significant building portfolio".

University of Toronto properties figure prominently in a new guide map of modern buildings published by the Toronto Society of Architects. Of the 96 buildings and public spaces listed in Toronto Architecture 1953-2003, 14 are U of T properties. Here are some outstanding examples from the last decade:
